Just had an automated call, asking me to press 6 to talk to an advisor regarding debt problems and clearing uneforceable agreements.

Did so and got the above, (they said), a very noisy phone boiler room.

Call came in from a witheld number and when asked, they refused to give a number I could call them back on.

The OFT have said that they will clamp down hard of the activities of this sort of company.

Oh well, guess they've rolled over and gone back to sleep again.

Ive heard loads of ads on the radio for this "is your loan unenforcable" etc...

There seems to be a big industry building up around this at the moment.

The more the authorities try to stop it, the more it will prosper ;)

It'll be a call centre using PBX (Private branch exchange), their end will be an extension number + they'll be very unlikely to know what their outside number is.

A warning tho', there have been several scams over the years where this sort of call has been used & the recipient has been told to press whatever no., #number or *number only to find out at a later date they've been charged for calling a 'premium' line number when they receive their telephone bill.
