Had a letter from them today after I had sent them an offer of payment, with £20 cheque from joint account)and letter from my doctor confirming I was disabled permanently. They have kept the cheque, cashed it, and the doctor's letter but are refusing to deal with me until I physically sign a letter to them. Any one got any ideas why?

just being funny buggers - they will say it's to validate your identity however if they were in any doubt about your identity they should NOT have cashed you cheque - send them a signature with a graphic or faint line in the background - good enough as proof for them - and you also know there will be no cut and paste with that one :)

Hi Midnighter,

capone like to cut and paste a bit. I wouldn't trust them at all. You can use an electronic signature (if you know how to do that I don't!) or just write your own signature with an obvious difference or scribble through it with a couple of crosses, and make sure you take a photocopy. Then if that odd signature appears anywhere you'll have proof of what they have done.

Because they are weird?

As long as they have cashed the cheque, they have accepted the payment plan, as far as I know- but Cap1 are a bunch who think they can play by their own rules.:(

Have you sent them a CCA request as well? (without your signature on) It might be worth it if they are getting bolshy.
