can anyone tell me the answer to this question.

I went to my local shop yesterday and bought several items which totalled

£4.73p,I gave the owner of the shop my visa debit card to pay, she said that there would be a 30p charge if I didn,t spend over £5.00. I was taken aback by this ,it has never happened before, then looking on her till while waiting I noticed that they charge various amounts for asking for cash back.

ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THIS? If not who do I complain to thanks.

Yes they can do this shops have to pay merchant fees you know credit cards are a % of the transaction and debit cards are a fixed amount usually about 20-30p so small shops often charge small amounts to cover small transactions.

As for cashback they dont have to do this at all and it is quite a pain in the bum for smaller places, costs quite a bit and you have to wait sometimes 60 days to get your money back
