Hi all

I just received a letter for civil enforcement ltd from newlyn saying i owe £165 for a parking offence.

This is the first correspondence i have and it is dated sep 08

when the offence has supposidly taken place.

it does not state a location and only has a pcn number and my car reg .

I`ve never recieved any ticket on my windscreen either.

What can i do to counter this letter as to my knowledge i have not committed any offense.

thanks luke.

Does it actually mention the word 'offence'?

if it's anything like the paperwork i've received i'm guessing no.

newlyn have sent me a few letters these past few weeks demanding money. they can go jump.

i can't believe woolworths is closing down yet rogue companies like cel and newlyn are still manking money?!

This is what the letter says

Client: civil enforcement ltd

incident date 20/08/08

Location-this is blank

pcn-there number here

vrm-my car reg here

We have been instructed byCivil Enforcement ltd to recover the above parking charge motice which remains outstanding.

Do not ignore this letter.Further actionmay be taken at considerable cost to you if the debt is not cleared.

In order to clear this debt and avoid further action being taken you need to contact us on tel no. as a matter of urgency with your proposals to clear this outstanding amount.

This is all it says and no mention of offence.

There people cant just turn up and clamp my car or take it awy can they.

Ignoring the letter is eaxactly what you should do. There is no 'debt'.

No, that would be highly illegal. If you think you are owed money, you have to go to small claims court like everybody else - you can't just seize goods because you feel like it. Of course, there's no chance of them bringing court action - they just want to scare you into paying up voluntarily.

Lots of information there. I seriously suspect some PPCs just spend £250 on buying 100 addresses from the DVLA and hope 20 or so will just pay up - netting them over three grand.

  • 5 months later...

Its now 5 months since i got this ticket,i`ve heard nothing more from this company after the last correspondence i received.

It looks like you were all correct and they were bluffing threatening me with court action.

Thanks to all who replied and thanks to the owners for providing a great forum

Luke.
