I would just like to draw to the reader's attention that regrettably I am leaving this forum for good. I am not writing this message just to provoke a reaction - I will not create a new account - I stick to my word and this is my final post under this name or any other. For those of you who DID help me - especially crem, and Al27 - thankyou for your advice. I have not paid CEL and without your words of encouragement I probably would have caved and paid them by now. Thankyou for your kindness. May I just say that it is a sad thing indeed that as a genuine user of this forum, I have been victimised and accused and as a result I have lost respect for this forum. It is sad that it has come to this. I expect that this forum was originally intended to help people like me and it is sad indeed that one of your most experienced users has turned on one of the very people CAG was invented to help. [edited] - aka 'angela-perky-27' - your immaturity astounds me. I know that you don't regret intimidating me but I cannot continue to use this forum when people disrespect me as you have done. To all those genuinely considerate users of this forum - I again thank you, and good luck. Yours, angela xx

Why is nobody suggesting using this defence?
angela-27 replied to RichardM's topic in Private Land Parking Enforcement
you make a very peritinent and valid point - ie can someone be 'fined' in this way if a contract has not been entered into. i think sometimes on here people make too much emphasis on whether not the person in question was driving the vehicle. i think sometimes the point comes across that if you were the driver, this makes you liable. i guess what you are saying is that if you were the driver it is still highly debatable whether a contract was entered into, and that if the ppc cannot prove this in court, they have no case? -
Civil Enforcement Ltd (again!)

why the HELL are you saying that?! how dare you! i have nothng but respect for this forum and in return i am treated like this?! you need to learn some manners. someone who has made over 6000 posts on this website should have more sense than to accuse genuine users of the forum of being trolls. -

Civil Enforcement Ltd/Newlyn - Advice appreciated
angela-27 replied to physioneil's topic in Private Land Parking Enforcement
hi neil, like you i have also been caught by CEL. i received my first letter from newlyn last week, asking for a ridiculous amount of money. i'm not paying. i believe that according to OFT guidelines, if you write to a debt collection agency saying the debt is in dispute, they are obligated to cease correspondence, and i am going to write a letter to this effect to them (in a couple of weeks when i can be bothered!) let me know what happens, we're in the same boat -
Parking Charge Unfairly Given Help Needed
angela-27 replied to hack12345's topic in Private Land Parking Enforcement
Like I said, don't admit to anything, it's up to THEM to prove their case. Don't mention the word driver anywhere in your letter, just politely explain that as the registered keeper, you don't owe them anything. That should be sufficient - they will dig their own hole with fraudulent paperwork. -

If you want to write to them then that's your decision. But if you do, admit no liability - it is up to the PPC to provide evidence and prove their case. If you really must write to them, keep it brief - deny the legality of the so-called fine and state clearly that you aren't paying them. -

Just thought I'd update on my drama with CEL. -
yes, some information may be of use: was this a private parking company or a council ticket? no one can really honestly advise you on what to do unless we know the answer to this question.

why don't you just film it and put it on youtube? i'd get a kick out of watching it (anything to distract me from revision!!)

CP Plus parking ticket on Morrisons car park
angela-27 replied to Zayna's topic in Private Land Parking Enforcement
If £15 gives you peace of mind, by all means pay it. However if you don't pay them, the odds are you will end up paying £0! If you aren't sure you could send a letter asking on what legal grounds they are asking you to pay them money. They will write back a template letter and not respond directly to your question. But at least it will give you time to think about what to do. It's up to you to make the call - others on here can tell you to ignore til the cows come home, but at the end of the day it's your decision. -

Yes it all may seem official. I recommend you watch this video to see just how easy it is to set up one of these so called 'proper companies'. BBC Media Player#
