I have a default registered against me from Sept 2002, from which i havent ever really had any contact from a DCA

The debt is around £1500 and in all honesty hasnt affected me that much as i dont seem to have any problems getting credit at a decent rate

Is it worth trying to get this removed from my credit file and possibly bringing myself to the attention of a DCA?

I was thinking of disputing it online with Equifax - if i was to dispute this im assuming that it wouldnt affect the 6 year SB timeframe?

Are you sure you have a default on your credit file???

If you checked your file recently to find out, you may have inadvertently rung the dinner bell!! :o

Personally I'd sit tight and hope it slips by unnoticed.

HOIST BY THEIR OWN PETARD.

Blimey it works....:-)

Yep, its definitely there

Odd thing is no one seems especially fussed about it, ive been registered on the electoral roll and lived at the same address for over a year and havent heard anything at this or my previous address, ive made around 5 credit applications over the last 2 years as well and havent had any refused

In all fairness i could pay the outstanding amount now but im a little unsure if this would mean the default stays on my file for 6 years after i satisfy it or would disappear as normal in a few months?
