Hello all

After browsing through the site here, it certainly showed me the impossible can be possible!!

Really interesting reading.

So I thought I would check my online bank, and went to the statement and letter areas, and for just this year alone looks like I have been charged almost £600, (didn't think I had been that bad - sure adds up quick), what amazes me, is they charge £30.00 and I don't even get a physical letter, just online notification..that Must cost them a fortune to send - NOT

Anyway, now I am registered, thought I would say Hi, and start the motions to getting my statements back to when I opened my account, will pop in the Halifax today and get the date.

One of my concerns, although I am not happy about all the charges I have paid over the years, I don't want them to downgrade my account or remove my overdraft, or even close my account, can they do this?

Waiting your advice when you have chance :-)

Thanks for your time.

Opal

Hi Opalie

I'm in a similar situation, but have opened a parachute account to be on the safe side.

Like all bullies, the banks don't like anyone standing up to them and I believe they are capable of anything.

As long as you've got a parachute account for your income you hold the whip hand.

It's a bit of a pain, having to prove you exist, but then I suppose that's not the banks' fault. I opened mine over the telephone with the Co-op.

When I came back to England several years ago the same nonsense was in place and Lloyds wrote to my mother asking how long she had known me!

Truly the inmates are running the asylum.

Good luck, and remember to keep us posted!

Regards.

Vandermerwe.

Thanks Tilly 49 and Vandermerwe, I appreciate your responses and have posted a thread under Halifax as suggested.

I guess I could use another account I have, but then as soon as my wages are not being paid in there, I can guess that they will downgrade / cancel my overdraft.....It's wierd I'm not worried about fighting them, just dont want to lose what I have in the process LOL

Ah might need to think on that one.

Ta for responses again
