Ok, so whats the crack here.

I get a card with a limit of £300.

I go out and buy something for £299.99. i get my statement in, and i have been charged for being over my limit. I haven't spent over my limit, it is the interest that has taken me over. Now Barclaycard is the only card i know off, that charges you for going over your limit when it is interest that puts you over.

Can they do this? Surley if the max interest i can pay on £300 is say a £10er then they should only let me spend say £290. Would this stand up in court for them?

They don't make this clear in the T&C's

No, it's not just Barclaycard, yes, they can do this, in the same way that they will charge you for going over you limit when it is their late payment charge that puts you over the limit.

It's irrelevant however how or why they do it, since the high level of the charge is what makes it unlawful.
