agh-had a goldfish account which i cleared roughly 5-6 yrs ago-rang 3 different numbers today to get my account number but they tell me it is no longer attainable because it has been taken off the system-please help-

Just write to them with the Data Protection Act Subject Access Request.

Include the addresses that you lived at during the operation of your card.

They then have to produce your details within 40 days.

They do not need you account number for this (thay may so they do, but thats to save them work) Remember you are not a number.

Generally they will forward them internally to the correct department.

There is a thread on here that has a link to the Data Protection register where you can find the addresses.

According to Goldfish website, the card is run by Morgan Stanley and their details are as below

-just called goldfish-they say they can't retrieve my account no cos its off the system!?

 

they say they only keep info on their computers for 5 years-i disputed this with the 6 yr rule but got nowhere-she then went on to advise me to write in-whats the point? i asked.

 

they can then search the archives was the reply-am i missing something here?lol

You HAVE to write in with the DPA SAR letter along with your £10 cheque.

They then have 40 days to supply ALL information they have on you.

 

If they dont supply this then you can issue a claim for non compliance.

on with it at the mo-just wondered can i ask for info more than 6 years ago?or are they obliged to do that with the request anyway-i'm not sure when exactly my account was cleared -could be more than 6 yrs ago

The DPA request is for ALL the info they have on you since your first dealings.

Some places claim they only have old info on microfiche and are not required to send that, BUT they are.

Important Regarding Goldfish:

 

The business of Goldfish was transferred to Morgan Stanley on 17th February 2006. However if your account was closed prior to this it would not have been part of the transferred portfolio and as such, the previous owners of Goldfish, Lloyds TSB remains the data controller. You need to write to them with your SAR at Lloyds TSB Bank plc, Data Controller, Third Floor, Victory House, Trafalgar Square, Brighton, Bn1 4FY.

hi paul-goin round in circles-sent sar to bn1 4fy-not signed as received-got phone no off directory enquiries-continuous beep

 

tried customer liaison dept for goldfish who gave me morgan stanleys no-they couldnt find my account so put me through to goldfish again HELLLLLLLLLLLLP!

sar still not signed for and royal mail wont consider it lost til 15 working days after posting which leaves me til 22nd may-cant find out whether postal order was cashed either-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

oh-no-sar sent originally to trafalgar place brighton recorded delivery-never signed for

 

sent next sar to glasgow-goldfish who have just returned my cheque saying to contact trfalgar place- so phoned them but they rckon they can omly search by my credit card no-this account was settled several years ago so have no record af card no.

lloyds advised me to try hfc which i have just done-have details of my account being passed to lloyds but no card no??-help -going round in circles.who should i pester??

this saga gets worse.up to present i have

1)sent sar to goldfish,glasgow who wrote saying lloyds owned the debt and returned my £10 fee.

 

2)phoned lloyds at trafalgar house who said to contact hfc cos they had the original debt.lloyds said they needed a card number to deal with it

 

3)contacted hfc who say it was passed to robinson way and they have no card no

 

4)contacted robinson way who say they have no card number.just their reference number

 

5)called card concerns at lloyds in sussex house who say to contact hfc.

have just called hfc-found out theyve been lying -they do have my account number but wouldnt give it to me over the phone
