Capital Resolve re old virgin media debt i have no knowledge of

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I came home from work today to find a letter from Capital Resolve chasing a £181.07 debt from Virgin Media.

I've absolutely zero knowledge of this debt;  we were last customers of Virgin Media 11 years ago, and even then the account was in my wife's name, not mine.

It's possible I may have been a customer many years before that, but it wouldn't have been at this address.

Citizens Advice have advised me to send the "Complaining to debt collection agencies that you do not owe the debt (sole name)" template letter from the Natonal Debtline website, but I thought I'd check here before proceeding as I've received priceless advice from users of this forum previously.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Gary

Capital Resolve doesn't purchase debts so who's the original creditor stated on the letter?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Hi Folks,

I finally received a response from Capital Resolve today, with "proof" that I owe the debt.

they've sent me bills for somebody with the same name as me that lives about 100 miles from me.

Can I ask what you would suggest to be the best course of action now for finally getting this sorted, please?

Thanks for your help.

Hi dx

Yeah I sent the sb letter.

The most recent bill they've sent is dated 27th November 2023, so they can still chase the debt, it's just not actually my debt 🤣

Just checked all my credit agency accounts, there's no record of it on there, nor any mention of the address they've sent it too.
