I had significant mortgage arrears for many years but eventually paid them off and have been arrears free for around 8 years now. Nearly lost my home several times.

i have 5 months left to pay, however, there is a fee balance of around £20k which has been added to throughout the time I was paying off my arrears. I’ve always thought these charges were punitive and I really worked hard to clear around £28k of arrears.

s there any possibility of having these dismissed or sizeably reduced.

my original lender was GE then passed over twice and now with CHL

thanks in advance

moved to the mortgage forum.

very very unlikely sorry. 99% will be outside of 6yrs i bet?

any fixed sum penalty fees like letter/phonecall/arrears/default/it's raining - your fault ...could have been reclaimed and you would have gotten them back plus interest too but its far far too late. i've not seen a success in +5yrs.

who the BEEP is CHL?

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

Capital Home Loans

other than paying them I’ve had little to do with them.

reviews are rubbish. I might just take a chance and challenge them and try negotiating

nothing to lose, I suppose

thank you.

if CHL have charged any fixed sum penalty fees themselves within the last 6 yrs....

you fill out the FOSCI sheet putting each charge individually on its own line and your mortgages int rate in cell d15 to calc what you might be owed.

as for charges outside of 6yrs and probably with other lenders , you can try the same to them.

though i expect you will be refused - under the 3yrs rule.

it is now generally excepted by the FCA/FOS/ICO the notion that the claimant reasonably knew reclaiming xxx was possible more than 3yrs ago. and that nulls the claim.
