Just a little bit of advice here,

I am aware that a so called friend of mine is using a national express bus pass - one of the ones issued to partners of bus drivers. In order to get free travel in the West Midlands - however she isn't entitled to use it as her partner left the bus company over a year ago but she kept the pass.

 

She says it's not an offence to use it but I feel it's fraud against the bus company. What would likely happen if it gets reported or she gets found out?

There must be an end date on the pass surely?

 

If you are her friend then highlighting to HER the misuse of the pass would be the right thing to do.

The pass expires next year. Is it likely that National Express would want any fares back that she didn't pay.

I'm surprised the bus company didn't ask for the pass back. Normal practice is that all employment concessionary passes must be handed in when an employee leaves.

 

As said definitely a crime. She's getting a cash benefit she isn't entitled to. AKA fraud.

 

If the morality does not worry her has she considered the practical impact on her life a criminal conviction would have?

I have highlighted it to her before but she didn't listen and I know that someone she works with doesn't like her and knows about the pass and has threatened to report it!

 

She's worried now the police are going to turn up!
