Putin is responding to nothing, Putin is the aggressor, Russia is the one that has always started trouble, then invaded and annexed all the countries around them including Poland and Ukraine.

 

The west has never threatened Russia, but Russia has continually threatened the rest of the world except China who are the only country that are as mad as they are so they are afraid of China.

 

Putin is just the next Russian madman in line to continue to threaten and rob other countries.

 

Also lets not forget the thousands of British that died fighting to keep Russia free from Nazi occupation in ww2.

according to that link, those eastern countries have asked for support re ruski. cant really blame the us for that.

and, not so long ago, the US was planning to shut down some bases in the EU. maybe not now ....

Purely Defensive because Russia invaded half of europe including the East of Germany and Afganistan and annexed all the countries on their border. Those they did not annex like Poland were militarised by them and forced into communism, there had to be a measure put in place to stop him going further.

They bribed half of southern Asia into letting them build military and naval bases in their countries.

Today Russia, no, not Russia, Putin supplies the likes of Iran with it's machinery to make uranium and the weapons being used by all the rebels in the trouble spots around the world.
