It is a charge levied monthly when you are in arrears. They claim to hold the charge if an arrangement is in place, but don't actually seem to bother.

Sounds like an unfair penalty charge. Demand a breakdown in writing and dont pay it until they explain it. Ge seem to do this a lot.

Any advice i give is my own and is based solely on personal experience. If in any doubt about a situation , please contact a certified legal representative or debt counsellor..

What GE do is deduct the £40 admin fee and additional interest from your monthly payment and credit it towards your fees and charges balance......Even if the DWP are making payments, they always pay in arrears and GE and ever other lender knows this, but GE ignore it and charge regardless...They refuse to acknowledge this and will onyl ever confirm they receive DWP payments......am about to start reclaiming these my self from GE.....

If you kick a Tiger in the Ass youbetter have a plan to deal with its teeth

renegradimp sadly you have no choice as they deduct it from your monthly payments thus putting your mortgage account in arrears.....

Reclaim it. They are unlawful charges and cannot be enforced.

Sadly not many people know their rights and ge get repossessions based solely on these charges and the arrears ge caused.

  • 1 year later...

I am currently at an impasse with GE with my mortgage having been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in October and awaiting a stem cell transplant.

I have been gathering details of all the charges that have been imposed on my mortgage account, which total over £4000, with a view to going after them for these costs. I have today received a letter saying they have transferred my mortgage to Engage Credit.

Two things. One, are they the henchmen? Does anyone have any experience of them? And two, do I still have a case to reclaim the unfair penalty charges given the transfer?

Thanks in advance
