Hi Anthony Pugh

Our late fees cover administration costs we incur when an account isn’t paid by the date it is due. Our current late fee is £5.50 per agreement and a late fee is applied to the missed payment once; it is not applied again for any additional missed weeks.

As part of our standard procedure we also provide all our customers with an explanation of the key terms of the credit agreement using an agreement guide presenter. Optional Service Cover (OSC) is completely optional and can be cancelled without penalty with just 7 days notice. Any premiums already paid will have entitled you to the following benefits:

• Repair or replacement

• Loan products

• Full returnability without charge

Optional Service Cover (OSC) was available to customers who took out an agreement prior to 2nd September 2013.

Please note that if an agreement was taken out with BrightHouse after 2nd September 2013 we now include a similar range of benefits as a standard part of our service and it is included in the weekly price.

If you would like to talk to somebody about any concerns you may have, please contact our Customer Relations team on 0800 526 069 or email [email protected].

Many Thanks

how do i get late payments back and my osc back ?? how you gone about this

Hi and welcome to CAG

I have created a new thread for you as the one you posted on was quite old hence you were missed.

Have you got a record of these penalty charges and a note of the amounts of OSC that you have paid?

If so you can complete a spreadsheet to work out how much is due back.

You can then send a preliminary letter of claim to BH. They will more than likely refuse to refund.

The next step would be to send a Letter Before Action and then to sue them if they still don't pay.

You would do well to read around the forums for similar cases to see how others are going about things with this outfit.

How much in late fees and OSC do you think we are talking here?

What administration costs! its all done by PC so what costs are there when your system auto tells you when someone is late?? as you don't send letters out you make a call to that late person! so what calls cost £5.50 each do they??..... and don't get me started on your so called OSC, it was never Optional when i got my first item as i was told i had to have it as it was my first item! so tell me how that is Optional

What i would like to know is you say its £5.50 pre agreement? now say someone has 4 items why will BH not let them pay for 2 items that week, But BH always what the full payment for all items, i can not see how you can do this! , when that person has 4 agreements 1 for each item, by not letting them pay! for 2 items that week, they will get late fees for all items! (like you said each agreement has a late fee! but BH will not let anyone pay for 1 agreement in any given week they always what paying for all) i'm sure BH are breaking the Law! by not letting anyone pay for 1 or 2 items when they have more then 2.

I'm so Happy i'm not with them anymore! how they get away with £5.50 late fee! and then say its administration costs we incur, when we all know they have auto system that tells them when someone is late.

5.50 COULD be seen as fair. Its better than the £10-£25 they used to charge. i was referring to the rest of the rubbish they spouted.
