Hey all,

Quick post about transferring, and rates.

Moved into our property May 2013, supplier was either Npower / Eon will have to check when i get back home.

When moved in i noticed the meter was an Econ 7, so i called up and advised we have no storage heaters so we do not need a cheap night rate, so i want 1 rate. Took a few attempts of topping up and then bingo changed to 1 rate.

Moved suppliers to EDF, got all details transferred over. been with EDF since June, and arranged recently to have meters changed for standard quarterley meters so can set up DD instead of having to go to the shop when elec runs out. All seemed well.

Caleld up today wondering why the letter is in my partners name and contract in mine rather than same name, whilst chatting i looked in the book supplied to me, with unit prices so wanted to try and work out how much DD it will cost me.

i queiered the reason for different prices, then i managed to find out since being with EDF ive been back on 2 different rates. So i asked them why and they said it was due to me having an econ 7 meter, And the new meter being installed in 2 weeks will be econ7. i said woahhhh stop i have no storage heaters and Npow/Eon changed the rates.

They said unfortunately as im on an econ 7 meter then the rates will be set liek that when you came over, and any price adjust by the other company would not carry over. I asked when they transfer details surely they should advise what they did, and the lady said no they dont

She then said dont worry there is not much difference in price, with rate 2 offsetting against 1, i then asked what time rate 2 kicks in and she stated mightnight till 7am. which is useless to be honest between those times the only thing on is a fridge!

Rates prior to Jan 14 increase were

(1 rate meter) Standing Charge - 18.90

14.19p per unit

(Econ 7 meter) Standing charge -18.90

Day rate - 17.25

Night rate - 6.24

After increase

(1 rate meter) Standing Charge - 18.90

14.72p per unit

(Econ 7 meter) Standing charge -18.90

Day rate - 18.13

Night rate - 6.63

Dio you guys think i could get my pennies back? or no chance
