I signed off JSA to take a job in August 2012. Unfortunately in December 2012, I had to leave my job due to ill health (I have lupus and suffered a major flare up at this time).

I have mainly been living off savings and family support up until this point, but this week after getting the all clear from my doctor, I have started looking for work again.

Am I eligible to claim JSA again, or will I be sanctioned for leaving my previous employment? When filling out the application form online, it asked whether I had been working in the past 6 months, which I havent, so no details were asked of my previous employer?

You need to complete the rapid reclaim form online. The form does ask about previous employment in the previous 26 weeks so yes you do need to declare when that employment ended.

You may be asked to complete form ES84JP when you attend your rapid reclaim appointment to ask the reasons why you left your employment.

From 22nd October 2012 the sanctions regime changed so even if there was a decision made to consider sanctioning your claim it would be for a maximum period of 13 weeks which have already passed from when you left so you would not receive a sanction anyway!
