Hi all,

Looking for some advice.

My mom is a nurse in a care home and she worked at a home for 14 years which ended up being closed down whilst they investigated the treatment of the residents.

My mom was arrested and brought in for questioning, as were all the other nurses that worked there but they were released as there was no case against them. It was against the management.

Mom has been for an interview this morning at another care home and they have offered her the job, however she is really worried that something will come up on her CRB check. Any idea?

She was arrested. She was never charged or cautioned.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

As far as I am aware, no it should not. Although, as they arrest was in relation to the care of older persons.... the cheif inspector has the option of adding information to the CRB report. But seeing as she was not charged or cautioned I wouldnt think they would do that..... Although, the info will be held on the police computer.

An ECRB may well mention that an arrest was made on suspicion of XXXX in the section on the report containing information drawn from other sources - as mentioned in the post above, with an ECRB the local Police Authorities can, if considered relevant to the application, disclose details of allegations and arrests which were not pursued.

Your mum should ideally be up front about what happened and air her concerns that this may appear on her ECRB - it should be fairly easy to explain, as you have here, and particularly if the case was publicised in any way, to find some public record or report of the event which would support her side of the story.

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.
