 hey guys...i am filling in the spreadsheet...but my bank statements don't tell me what the o% interest overdraft limit was for some periods...where can i get this info...or can i leave it blank???

thanks in advance...oh and is it best to claim seperately for a natwest credit card and a current account? or do them together?

On your statements, you will see a debit for interest...and an amount next to it, often on or around the same time as charges..this only happens when you are in the red...

If you have none, then yes leave it blank..

as to whether to do them together or separate, I think it is personal choice..

I have debits for interest, where i am overdrawn, but on some statements it tells me me my rate for borrowing up to a certain amount...on others....it doesnt tell me what my limit was at the time! not even near where the interest debit is printed...am i being dense?

no don't worry..just ignore whatever it says about the borrowing rate..

If it debits your account with interest then add it to the spreadsheet around the same level as entered charges from that month..

ok, so i have added the interest charges to the spread sheet and next to some of them, i have put the amount of interest free overdraft i was allowed at the time...but in the others (where i don't know the answer) i have left the cells next to the interest debits empty!

If anyone thinks there is anything wrong with that please speak up...otherwise, its going to be posted!

thanks for your help people!

hope i'm not too late...the interest part of the sheet should be something like..

date..interest.. your balance...

nothing to do with interest free overdraft...

just the interest charged...and then your bank balance at that date..

hey thanks for answering, but my spreadsheet, the complex one...has a space for date, interest charged, balance at time, and a space for what the interest free overdraft limit was!

DATE PENALTY APPLIED

DETAIL OF PENALTY

PENALTY CHARGED

CUMULATIVE PENALTIES CHARGED

INTEREST DATE

INTEREST CHARGED

ACCOUNT BALANCE AT INTEREST DATE

INTEREST FREE OVERDRAFT (ENTER AS +)

INTEREST ON PENALTIES

see?! erm (i cut and paste the top row of spread sheet...but this site, just turned it into a list..anyway those are the columns at the top of the spread sheet!

Hi Bibi

I have just filled in my spreadsheet just the way Hedgehog said, making sure that there is only one date per line. I found it easier to fill in if I marked every statement with coloured pens.

Red for the amounts you can't claim back, green for those you can, and blue for the amounts I wasn't sure of. It made it easier filling in the spreadsheet.

I have some questions though.

1) What the hell do I do now? I have never used excel before.

2) After filling in column D, column E repeated the amount in every row from then on.

It's supposed to show the cumulative amount but that is already shown at the top of column

D Is this right, or should column E be empty?

HELP!!!!!!!

I don't think you have to worry about that. I haven't heard of an interest overdraft. And if there is one why haven't I got?

Seriously, I ignored that on my spreadsheet, but I daresay someone will tell us if that is wrong.

My overdraft is definitely not interest free.

hmmm? I think we were using different spreadsheets??

Have just looked, and they have now added that column..

If you are not sure, then leave it at £0.
