Hi,

At the moment, there are the following seperate forums that are all very closely interlinked:

Employment

Disability

Benefits etc

Would it make sense to have a main forum area called "Employment/Equality/Benefits", with a disability subforum and a welfare rights subforum?

I think this would make good sense right now, if only because the Equality Act comes into force on 1st October, and since at the moment equality legislation postings are being made in all three forums, it would be useful to have all of the posts tied up together.

On a seperate note, if you look at my posting history, you'll notice that equality legislation is my particular specialty knowledge area. I'd like to prepare some sticky posts on the Equality Act as well, if this has site approval. Could someone from the site let me know?

  • 2 weeks later...

I thnk that we can do that.

We would include NHS as well.

Can you list out for me what forums should be grouped

I would suggest, given CAGs new pattern of big groupings of having the main group called "Equality, Employment and Social Entitlement", and then have the following sub forums:

Welfare Benefits

Equality and Human Rights

Other Disability Issues

Health and Social Care

Other Employment

I understand that some posts may need reorganising to fit these groups, if you need help with this I'm happy to do so.

I'll begin by setting up the group. We can change foum names later.

There you are, there's a start. I thought that Work and Social was a bit easier than your suggestion - although I'm not very happy with "Social" as it sounds like a good drink after knocking off from work. Got any ideas about that?

agree "social" on its own isn't really appropriate for the reasons you've given; I'd suggest "social entitlement", as above, for a couple of reasons; including mainly that, the Government (including DWP, Tribunals Service, Legal Aid and Community Legal Advice) use the term to encompass welfare benefit, social services, healthcare and equality issues, so the name is consistent.

It's just my personal opinion; if there's already a "brand" out there that seems to work, it makes sense to go with it; after all it's all about helping people to exercise their rights, I think it makes sense to have a consistent massge. I hope this makes sense!

They were ungrouped in order to display at the same level. The site retsructure isn't finished yet.

Erm why is RLP/shop lifting in there?

Frankly I'm not sure where to put it. Any suggestions?

Since you are working on it are you going to stick with this nesting of subforums under a superfluous, ambiguous and utterly pointless subforum heading?

The Consumer Forums Non-Retai

>>>>>>>> Non-Retail subforums

General Consumer Issues

Insurance/Assurance Companies

Local Authority, Council Tax and Business Rates Issues

Residential and Commercial Lettings

Students

The red bit! It looks like a non functional title but it's actually a heading link. Just seams a bit pointless to add this extra level when;

1, I can now expand and collapse the whole section @ the main title (in blue)

2, it adds another level to drill down through to get to the last post information from all the subsection topics which I navigate by.

3, it's not obvious that it is a working link which actually does anything like bring up the info in 2 above

4, it makes the subforums headings for each section under this heading really small and hard to read (this is really bad especially in the banking section)

Now if you were nesting 2 or more subforum categories, followed by their individual subforums under a single major heading for structure I can see the validity of it. But since at present you are just using this as a title to state the obvious that these are the subforums under this title which we already know....

Do you get what I mean? I'd add pictures to demonstrate what I mean but since you delete them I can't be bothered
