An 'Outstanding Debt' search shows that a company has carried out a search in an attempt to locate a customer.

You will notice that there are two tables in the Previous Searches Section

Table 1: (Credit Searches and Outstanding Debt Searches): Any Searches appearing in this table are viewable by Lenders and the number of searches recorded can affect your Credit Score.

• Credit Searches remain on Report for 12 months but only affect your Credit History for the first 6 months.

• Outstanding Debt searches remain in your Report for 2 years and affect your Credit History for that length of time.

Table 2 (Other Searches): Any searches appearing in Table 2 are only viewable to you and therefore do not affect your Credit History.

The two types of searches that are viewable by others and therefore affect your Credit Score are Credit Searches and Outstanding Debt Searches.

Hope you can help out with this query then. A debt from about 8 years ago was settled. The debt was regarding Natwest. However, the default still remains on the credit file. After approaching Natwest to sort it out, they just said they no longer have any records of that account as it was closed once settled. We still had the debit card and cheque book but they couldn't help us. How on earth are we supposed to have that default removed so we can move forward credit wise?

Hope you can advise.

If all else fails, kick them where it hurts and SOD'EM;)

Get in touch with the credit reference agencies and demand it's removal, it should have automatically dropped off after six years.

That's what I thought. Are they obliged to remove it after 6 years?

It actually says "satisfied", but any credit searches just seem to show the big red eight, which of course is a default.

I know of Experian, can you tell me the name of the other 2 companies please?

Thanks

Help please I have just had a copy of my Equifax report it show 8 searches over

5months by Mackenzie hall some time twice in one day an 3 by Lowell strangely the dates all match up to times when I have contacted these cretins for members of my family to help them sort out problems.

I have no liability to either company at all.

I have an Experian report no such entries appear.

Equifax list them 09/0609 Mac H kilmarnok (Bat) 2on this date as an outstanding debt searched undertaken in connection with credit application?

the others are listed as debt collection or outstanding debt. or unclassified.

It seems to me these are vexatious/malicious in view of the circumstances.

Also there is an entry by 1st Credit the only dealings I have with the is for a third party , anyn advice would be much appreciated have written to both CRA but no reply so far.

  • 2 months later...

I'm having issues with crapquest leaving numerous searches for outstanding debt under table one of my credit report.

Having contacted the DCA they have now added a bloody notice of correction dispute to my file, which is even worse as far as I can tell?

Any ideas how one should go about drafting a letter to equifax to demand these are removed? I have no ideals with crapquest and certainly haven't applied for credit with them, I mean **** knows why they feel the need to do 5 searches in less than one month?
