    • Hey guys,   Have an update with regards this SAR claim.   Mum received this letter dated 24th of April on the 2nd of May....  bit cheeky giving her only a few days to submit to their fear tactics!! Also, nothing has been received with regards to the lost case against parkingeye hmm maybe due to their delays??   Hope all are well!!   Kind regards,   Screenshot_20240502_185546_WhatsApp.pdf
    • Similar to what you've said here, just get drafting up based on what's already been sent. The mentions of the CRA2015 will be key. post your draft up here and we can help tweak.
    • Yes, well done. If you have a look at post 9 of dbuk2000's thread there are links to other cases featured on the Parking Prankster's site  https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/topic/466177-ukpc-2x-windscreen-pncs-claimform-forgot-permit-appealed-res-parking-my-own-space-east-croft-house-86-northolt-road-south-harrow-ha2-0es-claim-dismissed/#comments Also have a read of dbuk2000's Witness Statement.

    • T911, Nick, thanks, I got there in the end! Without boring you with the details, it is precisely the most ridiculous cases that end up being lost - because the Cagger knows the other party's case is rubbish so doesn't do the necessary work on their own case. G24 are well aware of double dipping.  They have either done it deliberately or else have cameras which can't handle multiple visits to the car park which G24 happily leave malfunctioning so the £££££ keep rolling in. Sadly most people aren't like you.  I've just read various reviews for the Retail Park on TripAdvisor and Parkopedia.  Virtually all of them are complaining about these unfair charges for daring to spend time & money shopping in a shopping centre.  Yet no-one is refusing to pay.  They moan but think they have been fined and cough up. G24 are unlikely to do court, but it's not impossible with two tickets. Try to get evidence that you were elsewhere at these times. Often retail parks will intervene, but I've Googled & Googled and cannot find an e-mail address for the place.  Could the manager of one of your favourite shops give you a contact e-mail address for the company that run the retail park? Right at the moment I'm supposed to be teaching someone who runs two shops at the local shopping centre, but I'm not as he has had to go to a meeting with the company that runs the shopping centre, so I know for a fact that these business relationships exist!!!

    • Hello,

On 15/1/24 booked appointment with Big Motoring World (BMW) to view a mini on 17/1/24 at 8pm at their Enfield dealership.

Car was dirty and test drive was two circuits of roundabout on entry to the showroom.  Was p/x my car and rushed by sales exec and a manager into buying the mini and a 3yr warranty that night, sale all wrapped up by 10pm.  They strongly advised me taking warranty out on car that age (2017) and confirmed it was honoured at over 500 UK registered garages.

The next day, 18/1/24 noticed amber engine warning light on dashboard , immediately phoned BMW aftercare team to ask for it to be investigated asap at nearest garage to me. After 15 mins on hold was told only their 5 service centres across the UK can deal with car issues with earliest date for inspection in March ! Said I’m not happy with that given what sales team advised or driving car. Told an amber warning light only advisory so to drive with caution and call back when light goes red.

I’m not happy to do this, drive the car or with the after care experience (a sign of further stresses to come) so want a refund and to return the car asap.

Please can you advise what I need to do today to get this done.

      Many thanks

    • We have finally managed to obtain the transcript of this case.

The judge's reasoning is very useful and will certainly be helpful in any other cases relating to third-party rights where the customer has contracted with the courier company by using a broker.
This is generally speaking the problem with using PackLink who are domiciled in Spain and very conveniently out of reach of the British justice system.

Frankly I don't think that is any accident.

One of the points that the judge made was that the customers contract with the broker specifically refers to the courier – and it is clear that the courier knows that they are acting for a third party. There is no need to name the third party. They just have to be recognisably part of a class of person – such as a sender or a recipient of the parcel.

Please note that a recent case against UPS failed on exactly the same issue with the judge held that the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 did not apply.

We will be getting that transcript very soon. We will look at it and we will understand how the judge made such catastrophic mistakes. It was a very poor judgement.
We will be recommending that people do include this adverse judgement in their bundle so that when they go to county court the judge will see both sides and see the arguments against this adverse judgement.
Also, we will be to demonstrate to the judge that we are fair-minded and that we don't mind bringing everything to the attention of the judge even if it is against our own interests.
      This is good ethical practice.

It would be very nice if the parcel delivery companies – including EVRi – practised this kind of thing as well.

Hi All,

For some reason - I think because I tried installing loads of fonts, but not sure which one may have been faulty (not even sure this is the reason) - my computer is acting up in the following ways;

- Outlook Express (Outlook too, tried even though I hate it). If I set it to view messages in HTML it won't let me see the message - whether I sent it or received it - but if I select to view them all in Plain Text I can view a few, though not all. Also I can't type e-mails.

- Word: Has reset many of my files into a Courier-type font.

- MSIE & Firefox: SOME websites won't show the text, only lines. I can do Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V in Notepad to read the text though.

I'm sure other programs will be acting up too, put I don't know yet.

I copied and pasted loads of Hebrew fonts into c:\windows\fonts on Thursday afternoon & Friday just before the Sabbath. I only noticed the problems last night due to the Sabbath (I'm Orthodox Jewish) & my burpday on Thursday (& Hebrew burpday Thursday night & Friday).

I can't undo what I did or do a system restore, because it wasn't by way of installation, just moving/copy & paste files that I had downloaded from the net.

Tried Spybot as well as WinASO and other registry cleaners. No success.

Any help would be muchas gracias.

Thanks for coming to my thread locutus.

I don't know if I overwrote any Windows fonts. I might have done but don't know, and don't know how I can find out.

I'm using XP Home.

Ignore my PM then, I don't have Hebrew I'm afraid.

Hmm... I know if you just drag a font into the "Fonts" folder it does actually install it (rather than just copy it) Have you tried a system restore?

Thx dx, but I don't have a Windows CD anymore and it's demanding one.

yuo don't need a windows cd.

just try it on the OS installed, follow what i have said.

you are not 'installing' them Fontext.dll does that, i expect you have screwed that up.

Download, install, and run Microsofts' free TweakUI. Run the "repair font folder". (the last item on the list is "Repair"; select "repair font folder" from the drop-down menu).

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

The cause is usally that the Fonts folder has been diddled with and has lost its "System File" attribute.

or

Fonts folder has lost its system properties.

This will be obvious if viewing the fonts folder. You will not have

the names and the "Install new font" option under file.

If so:

Check the protection in Properties on folder c:\windows\fonts

If it is not shown with a check in System, then you cannot install

new fonts. It should also be protected, so you may not be able to

alter from Explorer.

In DOS mode, (or from Start-Run) use the command

attrib +s c:\windows\fonts

Reboot and all should be OK

or...

Use TweakUI

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm

The system attribute is normally the problem and the DOS fix is the

solution in the majority of the last few hundred responses I have made

to similar problems. The Fonts folder will not function as a special

folder without the system attribute. The other common problem is that

the hidden desktop.ini is missing or corrupt and TweakUI will fix

that.

There is a third problem mentioned here but, in my experience, this

one is uncommon.

(Fontext.dll file may be missing or damaged)

dx,

Thanks for your response.

The menu commands are still in the fonts folder. To make sure it has the right attributes, I went to command prompt and typed 'attrib c:\windows\fonts' and the answer was 'S R c:\windows\fonts', so the attributes are fine. It is also allowing to install new fonts and all the rest.

TweakUI hasn't rectified anything.

sfc /scannow asks me for the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD in order to update files. I can press cancel for each file but it seems to have a darn lot that it wants.

Can you tell me which fonts you can't see from this page?

locutus,

You're a genius! Now I need to know where to get them from that support Hebrew.

I've jumped ahead and gone to: Fonts supplied with Windows XP SP2 which is for Windows XP SP2, which I'm sure I have.

So I've listed all the fonts that I can't see - that means don't make sense the language they're in, coz it seems like a cross between Russian, Greek & the rubbish a printer prints when it doesn't understand a command!

Those at the end with a *, I don't recall ever having.

- Andalus

- Arial (all versions except Arial Black)

- Comic Sans (all versions)

- Courier New (all versions)

- Georgia (all versions)

- MS Sans Serif

- Tahoma (all versions)

- Times New Roman (all versions)

- Trebuchet MS (all versions)

- Verdana (all versions)

- *Angsana (all versions)

- *Browalia (all versions)

- *Cordia (all versions)

- *Dillenia (all versions)

- *EucrosiaUPC (all versions)

- *FreesiaUPC (all versions)

- *IrisUPC (all versions)

- *JasmineUPC (all versions)

- *KodchiangUPC (all versions)

- *LilyUPC (all versions)

- *Palatino (all versions)

- *SimHei

- *Sylfaen

So where can I download them?

I'll be honest, I'm not sure. I have no knowledge about getting the fonts in another language (or if other languages are embedded within the fonts) :( Do you have another windows XP computer with hebrew fonts installed? Or a friend that you can copy them off?

Unfortunatly I don't understand hebrew so I can't even install XP on an old system to find the fonts.

Slight side track, if you right click "My Computer" and select Properties what service pack does it say?

Hi All,

Thank you Conniff, dx100uk & locutus for your help.

I finally managed to get a Windows XP CD from a friend - I was waiting for an answer from him which is why I didn't respond to your PM Conniff, but thanks for the offer.

I ran sfc /scannow as recommended by dx100uk, but it didn't do anything.

Copying the fonts off the XP CD didn't help, so on a friend's recommendation I removed Hebrew from Regional and Language Options in Control Panel and then removed the language pack. I then re-installed the Language Pack (Languages tab, then "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai))".

I then restarted my computer and it all works - finally!

Thank you all for your help! Muchas appreciated!
