Hi there

I have n't posted on this topic, as I am still waiting for my dpa request for statements to arrive -( plus I have other cases going on.)

Today I recieved a call from MBNA offering me a full refund of all charges. It was so easy - there was no resistance ( unlike the Halifax and abbey)

They are sending me out copies of all my statments for me to verify the figure, and the cheque will be out in the next 10 days for £750.

My account is closed - maybe that was why they did n't protest .

I had n't even got as far as writing the letter before commencing proceedings.

They were really adament that they did n't wish to go to court - so I decided to ask for the full amount. ( they did make two offers before they settled in full) So I got a call at about 9.30am, refused their 1st offer and got another call just after 12, and withn 10 min it was done and dusted.

I will still keep the clock ticking just in case they don't procced to settle - will let you know when I get the cheque :D

So keep going people - you'll get there sooner than you think....

Good Morning

I have just received my letter from the abbey credit card (MBNA) , confirming that they will be sending me a cheque for £750 within the next 10 days. It also includes a ton of paper detailing all of my transactions with them - so that I can confirm the figure is correct. ( if forum what a copy of letter, let me know)

It is quite a nice letter, obviously not admitting any wrong doing, and stating that they are making the payment as a 'goodwill gesture.

I must say, it has been very pleasant dealing with them, as oppose to Abbey who are being pains in the a*#e, for a sum that I believe is less than MBNA have refunded.

It's such a pity that all institutions are not as polite and straightforward as these have been, although they'll probably never give me another credit card. Oh well....

Have a great day...I know I will

I can report a very similar experience with MBNA... It couldn't have been easier.

After going through my statements, I made an arbitary calculation of £48 owing in interest charges on top of the £395 penalties. They even calculated what the true interest charges were and are giving back more than I asked for!

They are however closing my account... But that's no great loss!

Jon
