Hi,

There are many companies that do line rental now and not just BT.

People include:- Sky, Post Office, Talk Talk, BullDog, Etc.

Just do a search on Google and you will find some.

Hope that helps

Sced.

Heck no - as Sced states, this markedt is wwide open. THere are only 3 'real' firms dealing with the resdential market - Kingston (Hull), Virgin Media (Cabled Streets) and BT Openreach, who install for everyone else on an agency basis. Who you pay at the end of the days is up to you.

I only know of BT openreach and NTL/Virgin media. All the others like Talktalk mentioned above will still pay a part of your bill to either 2.

NTL lines will restrict you to cable internet - most areas are either BT area or NTL area you will be lucky if you have the choice.

Sorry Fro.

Virgin do not retal their services to third parties. However, the Virgin NON-cavble service uses ADSL and is provided by Openreach, in exactly the same way as all the other non-cable suppliers.

Virgin lines do not 'restrict' you to cable internet. This is the preferred method of connection as it isn;t a kludge in the same way that ADSL has been developed to try and work over a 'normal' phone line. It also provides greated bandwidth and less rates of contention than ADSL, so where cable internet is an option and you want the best technology, that is the way to go.
