I suppose you could, although the cag provides experience based advice almost on demand. CAB offices, from the little I know, aren't open that much.

To get help here, if you post what the debts are without too much detail, then you'll get loads of good help.:)

the two that are bothering me at the moment are credit cards with lloyds and barclays both have had excessive charges added but im not sure if they can still be reclaimed as this would clear a large amount of my debts

Hi whipsey.

First thing I would suggest is doing an Income and Expenditure excerise. I particularly like the sheet on the National Debtline site (google it).

You can fiddle around with it and work out what you can reasonably afford to pay. It gives clear suggestions on priority debts etc which come first. You can make your offer of payment based on what's left and it will work it out for you on a pro rata basis.

Hope this helps.

Pinched this link off of another thread for you (thanks esma);

The amount you pay is up to you what ever you can afford should be split between your creditors on a pro-rota basis. There is a personal budget sheet that you can use here.

National Debtline England & Wales | Personal Budget Sheet

That is of course if the card people have a correct CCA for this account. You could send them a copy of the budget sheet if you wish but you dont have to. You decide what you want to pay and pay it if they agree or not. Also dont pay by DD or give them a debit card payment set up a standing order or get a payment book off them.

Also, are your credit cards related to your bank i.e. Barclaycard and a Barclays bank account? If so, tread carefully - move bank if need be. If not, then happy days!

Good luck
