can i gey sky broadband without paying bt phoneline rental

I have a sky package including broadband, but a bt landline. Is there a way I can i get out of paying my bt line rental. I don't really need a landline. What is the cheapest!

You need a BT line for the broadband. If you don't pay the rental for the line, there is nothing for the broadband to get sent down.

I have Sky broadband and sky talk, its much better and cheaper than BT...

 

I think sky are brilliant, faultless since i've been with them (April).

Cheepest phone line I believe is BT Basic, but you need to be on some benefit before you will be elegable. If you think you may be, visit this site

You can't get broadband on a BT Basic telephone line.

 

You could move your line rental to Sky, but it's only a bit cheaper. Sky line rental is £11/mth - and BT is currently £11.54/mth (including paperless billing and DD payment).

 

Your only choice would be to get Virgin Media broadband without a phoneline - but if you don't take the phoneline it's more expensive, so it's not really worth it.

Or... 3G/cable with:

 

1. Sipgate.co.uk landline number over VOIP - landline number with same area code, 5.90 for 1000 minutes to landlines, 9.9p to mobiles, voicemail

 

2. Skype VOIP account with landline number - less choice of geographical area codes, free landline calls, 14.4p per minute to mobiles, voicemail but relies on your PC being on for that to work unlike Sipgate
