me, my partner and our little girl have lived in a small 2 bed flat for 2 and a half years now, we want more children so we started looking for a 3 bedroom house. our landlady knows this but she has just got us to sign a new tenancy agreement for another 6 months and has informed us that the rent is now being increased by £20 per month. we have now found a 3 bedroom house that is perfect. but where we have just signed a new tenancy agreement for another 6 months that would mean that we give her 2 months notice of moving out, but still have to pay the full 6 months rent. is this right or can we cancel the agreement that we have just signed less than a week ago?! please help!!!!!

Unfortunatley you are bound by the agreement you have just signed, including the fixed term of it and any rent increase hat you agreed to.

You could try and find a suitable tenant to take over the tenancy for you, the landladays permission to do this shouldnt be unreasonable witheld.

Failing that, looks like your stuck there until November.
