Hello

What do you reckon

My son started an apprentise chef placement ( 2 year ) at one of the top restaurants

He was chosen out of 500 applicatants only 5 places available

He came home from college with another trainee chef the college is long way away one week which he shouldn't have done but children will be children

he recieved a verbal warning The other trainee was not repremanded in any form

My son suffers from severe learning difficulties which employer was aware of.

Although written work is almost impossible for him his hands on skills were clearly apparent all other trainees after 6 months had not been out of the prep kitchen but my son had his own station he even got one of his puddings on the menu

Whilst away at a further week of college both him and the other trainee put vaseline on the host houses dressing gown although this is clearly stupid this was outside work time

On his return to work he was dismissed the other trainee however again avoided any repremand

Surely this is unfair dismissal ???????????

No No

College up north

He came home as he was finding it difficult (learning difficulties)

Written work stressful - another trainee did the same for no reason.

verbal warning

then both my son and other trainee were silly they put vaseline on host house dressing gown

My son instantly dimissed

Other trainee no repremand still employed ?

seems unfair !

could claim disability discrimination then i suppose as the other guy got off scott free, although them messing about by putting vaseline on someone elses property would be classed as "horseplay" i believe some places call it, and as such it is usually considered misconduct.

id have a word with CAB about it ASAP.
