My wife and i havnt worked since apr 1st she has cancer .. we are 31 with two kids 8 and 5 since 15th of june £427 in charges havnt checked further back but in last 3 years must be £4000

Halifax joint a/c (£3800 charges + £40 interest on charges over 11 years) - paid in full 23/06/06

Halifax joint a/c new charges £1100 - LBA sent 02/08/06

Halifax 2nd a/c (£1500 charges + £150 interest on charges) - partial payment received 13/07/06 (no s69 interest) - AQ filed 07/08/06 - Court awarded 50% of s69 interest (Bank didn't turn up!)

Halifax Visa (#1) Data Protection Act sent - statements arrived - £350 so far

Halifax Visa (#2) Data Protection Act sent - refunded £170

Go to the part of the website with the letter pro formas and start by sending the letter which asks the bank to provide you with a list of all charges applied to your account over the last six years.

 

After that, sit back and wait. They will reply, I don't think they can afford not to. Once you have received your bank statements, go through them all and write down every charge applied to your account with the date, type of charge and the amount. List them in date order, set it up so you have a date column, a column titled Charges levied minus column legal limit (£12) and column balance due to customer. Then send this away with the next step letter and so on and so forth.
