Did anyone read the article in the Money mail yesterday saying that they investigated the claims re a loophole in the consumer credit act. They have said that the evidence of suscess is scant, the actual letter was about someone thinking of employing solicitors to fight their claim.

These credit card companies have been ripping people off for years with their charges its time we fought back and if their paperwork is not correct then they must be breaking the law. Think I might write to the Daily Mail and see what they have to say.

Don't think this is the article you're thinking of holley, but it makes interesting reading about our friends B. Carter & Co. Amazing how they come down off thier high horses when press exposure is threatened.

That is very naughty, and thisismoney certainly look into things don't they!

The last paragraph about companies house looking into them made me chuckle - how did they get a Debt collectors licence in the UK when they are registered abroad?!

The article was more about firms that charge £500 + and say we can wipe out your debt. As we all know we can stop enforcement and if we are lucky/cheeky/clever can get the debt cleared or reduced on a full and final but as the Rankines found out its not that easy to use the courts to do this. The firms make out its a matter of fact and quote incorrect facts.

This was the [problem] they were exposing and the fact that there was a loophole in the CCA as they put it, and that it was being exploited by people who could afford to pay to get out of the debt rather than most of us who can't pay.

These companies have now been warned by the Ministry of Justice over their misleading advertising.
