I know we are always advised to send a Postal Order when requesting a CCA or SAR. But, as I don't have a current account but can get a cheque issued by my Building Society that does not bear my signature, is this not acceptable so that I can save the PO fee?

Or is there another reason why we have to send a PO and I am missing the reason

We advise people on here to send postal orders because some people were so overdrawn, the cheques bounced and they incurred a charge of between £25 and £38 for a £1 fee to be taken.

A prepaid postal order gives the bank or card company no excuse to not process the request.

Thanks for that. My Building Society account can only issue cheques from cleared funds that are available at the time as it's a face to face process with the cashier. So I guess I should be OK to use a cheque from my account in these circumstances.
