I am about to buy a domain off someone, but they are not afaik someone who specialises in selling domains.

I want to have a way to dispute in case he doesn't deliver but I have sent the money. However I don't want him to think I am going to take advantage and chargeback regardless.

Does Paypal have any features so I can write what the outcome will be (e.g. "---.com registered to my name") that they can check in case of any disputes?

I don't think I would be able to use a bank chargeback since there will likely be no receipt?

Thanks

Ideally, you'll want to use some form of escrow service for this sort of transaction; google escrow, and you'll get loads of results back.

'Fraid I don't know enough about the process to be confident in recommending any escrow company in particular though.

Using a domain name escrow service would be the normal way of purchasing an already registered domain name. But one thing you may want to do first is check on how easy it will be to change the legal registered owner of the domain name. For example, if the domain name ends in .co.uk you will need to pay Nominet a ten pound fee to have the registered owner changed. I would in the domain industry, so if you let me know the end suffix (.com, .biz, .org.uk) I might be able to let you know. I hope you wouldn't, but please don't publish the full name of the domain name you're trying to buy.
