If the person in question here really wants to find out everything about the case, they could just reject the ticket and request the matter is dealt with by court summons.

Eventually a full file will be produced containing all the evidence which the defendant can inspect.

At this moment in time, my understaning is a FPN for shoplifting has been issued. I can pretty much gurantee you there will have been no statements taken. Probably just a brief entry in the officer's PNB.

Having said that, who wants to go through all the stress and hassle of going to court when paying the £80 ends the matter?

Its the principle though-not the £80.

If enough people were to take them to task over it,then it might encourage them to think twice before doing it.

I know of a claimant who sued the bank for £28.00.:D
