My O/H had a visit yesterday form bailiff asking for £640 within 2 weeks.

We simply can not afford it.

I've read the other posts and done some letters saying he will pay council.

Just wanted to check this was right.

Dont know what he has signed other than he signed something with details that Oh told B on door step and signed out side.

The Bailiff has never been in the premises so does not know what we have.

Please any on advice would be great.

we must guess this is a council tax debt?

how old is it?

when was the last payment?

what are the letters you talk of?

you mean you have sent some?

what were they?

have you paid the council as promised?

and what did he sign?

more info please so we can all help you.

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

He signed a list of goods but i am understanding that this should not have been done on the doorstep.

The lettes are the ones on the other thread about paying council not bailliff oin a plan and no not sent yet.

He has offered several payment plans but got rejected.

Council tax from 2007/2008.

We have not paid anything yet but have spoken to them and they say that is fine to send a letter including first installment.

The original debt is 342 and bailiff has now raised it to 616 because of charges.

so to clarify:

he signed a list of goods but the bailiff at no time had access? thats weird. did you oh list these goods for him?

get paying the council whatever you can, stop putting it off as such.

if the bailiff did not gain entry then fees are way too high.

there is a thread on here about bailiff charges, work out what it should be from that.

but realistically, the visit charges will probably need to be paid at the end of the day.

Hi I have seen the charges and have written to both R and C stating this.

The list was what oh told him on the door step at no time did the B have entry to the premises at all.

The blinds were shut and oh signed on the gas box at front of the house.

The letters are being sent including the first installment to the council.

I am so gratefull to have found this site as my oh has several debts and Im gonna be spending alot of time writing letters to them.
