Hi

My husband was clamped and towed away in June. I sent two letters to the address on the receipt the clamper gave us to let him know we would challenge the fine but the address was incorrect! surprise surprise!. I managed to call and get through to the clamper who gave me another (correct) address in hounslow, but my recorded letter was again returned to me unopened :o . The guy has an SIA licence to operate as I checked already, but how can I start a court case against him If I don't know for sure his address? the securities industry authority don't seem interested in the facts when I called them to complain so where do I go from here? anyone been in the same situation? any advice welcome...

What's the name of the company? If it's a "Ltd" you can look it up at companies hous and fin the registered office.

Nothing in this post constitutes "advice" which I may not, in any event, be qualified to provide.

The only interpretation permitted on this post (or any others I may have made) is that this is what I would personally consider doing in the circumstances discussed. Each and every reader of this post or any other I may have made must take responsibility for forming their own view and making their own decision.

I receive an unwieldy number of private messages. I am happy to respond to messages posted on open forum but am unable to respond to private messages, seeking advice, when the substance of that message should properly be on the open forum.

Many thanks for your assistance and understanding on this.

Can you not go to the landowner or authority on whose behalf the clamper was operating? It is ulikely that you will just be able to appeal and obtain your money back however valid your case may be and therefore small claims action may be your only recourse. Depending on the circumstances your claim may be jointly against the landowner so this may present you with a means of approach which would get a response.

Any advice given is done so on the assumption that recipients will also take professional advice where appropriate.
