Hi All...

 

I wonder if you could answer this question for me Please.....

 

On the 10th of September this year I had a review done on my insurance claim (Payment Protection) A chap came out to see me and it felt more like an interrogation then a review anyway when he was finished 2 1/2 hours later on his way out he said I would here from the Insurance people within 5 days regarding my claim..7 days later they sent me a letter saying Your file has now been passed on to our "Technical Department" for a full review... We will contact you again within 21 working days once the review has been completed..the letter was dated 17th September and I've not heard a word from them since...The insurance as not been paid as I have just received a letter off of the bank regarding payments...Is there a time limit on these things ? Do they have to make there mind up within a certain time frame ? Is there any guide lines they are breaking by not completing on time ?:confused:

 

Everything was fine with my old insurance company they were paying without any problems but then I started getting letters off a new insurance company regarding payments being made to my bank. so I can only assume my old 1 was taken over at some point by these people and didn't notify it's customers out of common courtesy..:(

 

Hope somebody can clarify this for me. Thanks in advance.

I think you would probably get more useful answers if you posted this in the Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) section of the forum (you could ask a moderator to move this thread for you).

 

I don't know that much about PPI as it is not my specialism, but I assume the 21 days is just a guideline that the company sets itself. However, it does seem that they have kept you waiting a long time. Is the claim for redundancy or sickness/injury? If it's the latter, it may be that they are waiting on some medical evidence before they can make a decision on whether or not to pay the claim.

 

Did you take out the PPI policy via your bank, at the same time you took out the loan? If so, then I would hope that the bank and the underwriters of the policy would liaise with each other about any problems or delays. Hopefully they would be willing to suspend the re-payments while the decision on the claim is being made.

 

I suggest you call the phone number on the letter (the one saying the matter is being referred to the Technical Department) and ask for a progress update.

Thx for the response ...Yes I took out the PPI with the loan which the bank automaticly done at the time so it was there insurers that they used for the loan.. They have been paying it for about 4 years now...I was getting a letter off them every month to say they had paid it...Then in july this year I got my normal monthly letter but this time it was off a different insurance company so I assumed my normal insurers had been taken over...Anyway after they made 1 payment the following month they decided to do a review of my claim...So I can only assume the new insurers are looking for a way of getting out of paying hence the time they are taking as all was well till they took over..

The reason I made the claim was due to ill health which left me disabled and I was told by the hospital that I had to take medical retirement because I would not work again....

They original insurers have all this information to hand already ??

I was going to ring them but I wanted to see where I stood on the matter first...

Will move my post to PPI...
