Hi there everyone

I wonder if someone could give me a bit of guidance please?

This morning I received a letter from the Halifax telling me they are sending me a cheque for £1089.57, (which I never asked for) which I will receive in 5 working days. They actually owe me £1254.74.

They have told me they are writing to the court to tell them the claim has been settled & suggest I do the same.

They have told me that they are withholding £165.17, because I am not entitled to this........unless I can provide them with evidence,(which I thought I had done, when I sent them a copy of my charges with interest) they will file a defence in respect of this, they have until the 14th July.

They also told me they will tell the tax man of the payment which constitutes 'taxable income'.

What do I do next??

Many thanks Dreamyd

Many thanks Tilly

As I only have till next Saturday I'm feeling a bit panicky.

I will reject the claim, though I'm confused as what to do, if the cheque arrives sometime after I have done this, as time is getting on.
