Hi guys,

I just got this useful info from the General Consumer Council of NI

"Unfortunately, to date no cases against the Bank of Ireland have been heard in the Small Claims Court as they have been adjourned until the Office of Fair Trading publishes their report. However, we are expecting a case to be heard in Belfast on 16 April 2007.

As you are aware the Small Claims Court handles claims were the value is not more than £2000. You may be able to make two separate claims for your bank

charges, however you would need to contact the Small Claims Court for advice on this issue and if the two claims can be made at the same time. The Court Service's telephone number is 028 9072 4566.

However, you can also take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) instead of the Small Claims Court as there is no limit on the amount you can claim. The FOS is taking a much tougher line with banks and as this service is free to consumers you may wish to consider it. The FOS

application form can be downloaded at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk."

That's why there's been a deafening silence on Bank of Ireland settlements!

Best
