Let the fight begin

I have just retrieved all my Barclays statements

my case

1. Unfortunately Iam planning to claim for charges going back from 2000 to 2002 reason being, I closed the a/c sometime in 2002, but from my statements, I can see charges dating back to 2000- 2001. I have read through the FAQs and about the statute of limitations, but still feel I have a chance of a claim

For those of you who are in similar situation - could you please advice

I have also seen 'monthly usage fee of £5 pounds charged on various occasions + Paid referral fee of £20 on various occasions as well', but these are for the period between 2000-2001, are they claimable having closed this a/c in early 2002

Mo mtamu, because this is the fee for a service you have chosen...it is not a penalty charge.

Mtamu, I have successfully claimed further back than 6 yrs. It is up to you if you wish to claim more than 6 yrs or not, but please make sure you read up on the limitations act. The stance most people including myself have used is that the banks have concealed the true costs of charges, which has only become apparent after the OFT statement.

I've responded to the other thread about the overdraft fee which can't bee claimed (please stick to one thread in the future as it causes less confusion) but paid referal fees etc can be reclaimed, as they are penalty charges, not a charge for a service.

Thanks for the response

what about Monthly usage fee detailed as Unauthorised overdraft charged at £20

My other question is: I closed my barclays a/c sometime in 2001, can I claim charges levied on 2000-2001 period.
