The story so far

18/1/07 sent request for repayment of charges £2,754

15/1/07 recieve letter from Natwest considering claim!

5/2/07 sent letter before action

9/2/07 Another letter from Natwest to say they are considering claim

14/2/07 Natwest sent letter TO SETTLE IN FULL

20/2/07 Accepted offer - mother in law rang Natwest to ask for payment in a cheque, Natwest tell her they cant pay by check as nobody has ever requested being paid by cheque before!! So money is to be paid into account which is fine as this will clear the in laws overdraft, in laws and Natwest agree on the phone to this.

So just as we thought everything was sorted Natwest send them another letter yesterday to say they are going to file a default and take action to recover the debt (overdraft).

Natwest have cancelled the cheque guarentee card and it has to be returned to them along with the cheque book, we assume this is because another account has been opened and no money is being put into the Natwest account at the moment but Natwest still saw fit to pay themselves a loan payment from an already overdrawn overdraft resulting in even more charges!

Does this mean they have closed the account? If so where will the settlement money go? And lastly is there anything we can do about it?

Thanks for any help
