I've been running a little close to my over-overdraft this month with about £20 to spare, due to a few unforseen car essentials(timing belt and tentioner kit £200).

As this has been the case I had requested a payment break for this month from a direct debit I have set up for car finance. This was approved by the finance company with no problems what so ever. I have just checked my balance and the DD hs been requested, denied and returned! I then contacted the finance company who it turns out had 'incorrectly set up the payment break'. Now I have been stung for £30 and I am £10 into my over-overdraft!

£30 for some else's mistake!

I had something similar happen a few months ago with Cetelem. They had agreed to change a DD date to after my pay date, but failed to (it eventually took them two months to do it properly). In each case it caused a problem with my Halifax account (either charges due to failed Cetelem DD, or another DD failing due to the Cetelem DD succeeding when it shouldn't have been presented. I phoned Cetelem and they waived their fee in for each of their failed DD's, and also paid the banks charges not only for their DD's but also for those that arose due to their DD being paid not leaving enough money for another due DD.

I hope that made sense :)

Of course, since the Halifax's charges were illegal I will, of course, be claiming for these from them too
