Thanks everyone. I could not have done this without the words of wisdom on this site.

I sent three letters to the Halifax and was due to claim on Friday. I received a telephone call at 9.30 am this morning offering me £5500. I was asking for just over £7500 so agreed to settle at £6500. I know I could have probably got more, but to us £6500 is a lot of money and will pay for a bloody good holiday for me, hubby and the kids this summer.

Thanks again.

Karen,

Congratulations..!! Don't worry that you settled for less than you were claiming - everyone as there own plan and if you're happy, that's the main point.

just make sure that you all ENJOY THE HOLIDAY

I've just got back from filing N1 at court this morning - Haliprats told me on Friday 9th Feb, that they hadn't even looked at my claim.. :(

Hears hoping for a succeessful court action and that 'little Xtra' 8%..

Once again - CONGRATULATIONS..!!!

Best of luck!! Think it's just a matter of time. She did tell me that they were absolutely snowed under - hardly surprising!!! She also said that there was due to be a ruling at the end of March/beginning of April as to how much they can legally charge. Dont know if there is any truth in that???

Verbally agreed yesterday and the letter has come this morning to sign to say we will accept. Usual blerb in the letter about managing our account properly. £6500 should be credited into our account in 7-10 days.

That's excellent news Karen, congrats. Don't feel bad about accepting less. As survivor said, every person's situation is different, and if you are happy with a reduced settlement, especially when it means you get the money without going through a long drawn out process, then go for it!

Keep an eye out for that money though, and make sure they stick to their promise of paying within those days...and most of all, ENJOY!
