Halifax - Offer received

We have started the ball rolling with the second of our banks now, Halifax owe us a stupid £1500, mostly from the last 12 months! Initial letter has been sent asking for the money back. I don't want to have to go to court on this one (finding the £80 is quite difficult sometimes) so hopefully they will just stump up straight away

Good luck. They owe me about the same amount. My initial letter was posted on Monday 27th March, so I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Well we got a letter today with the usual leaflet and saying they are looking into our complaint and we will receive a reply within 4 weeks.

From what I've read here we should stick to our time frame and not be dictated to. Consequently we are going to write to them today givng them an additional 7 days to comply (this brings the date to April 21st) and if we have had no satisfactory response in that time we will proceed with the court action.

Do you think that is the best approach?

Thank you for your response to our letter dated the 1st April. We have considered your timescale and found this to be unacceptable. However, we are prepared to allow an extra 7 days from the date of the original letter for you to conduct your investigation, this will take the deadline to April 21st.

 

I am sure for a company of your size, this deadline is more than fair. If a full refund has not been received by this date, we will initiate action through the county courts,

Actually, thinking about it, I don't mind going through the hassle of court action if it means we'll get the extra interest

I am doing the court action bit tomorrow morning went to the court today for the papers and dropping them in tomorrow do I include the spread sheet of charges with it or do I save that for court if it does infact go that far?

I did my claim online, and included all the interest in the total. Got my claim number there and then. I think it may be wise to put your spreadsheet in with your papers if you're going down to the court buildings - that way, they won't need to contact you later.

Yeah, I'd suggest doing it online, it's so much easier than filling otu paperwork then going to the court. Website is http://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk

Well, we received a letter from halifax this morning with all of the usual rubbish about incurring costs etc and also an offer for £298, a paltry 15(ish)% of the full claim amount. I've jsut finished writing a polite "sod off we want the full amount" letter. Will keep you updated
