Sincere apologies if this is in the wrong place, it's my first time posting.

Since reading this forum I have been encouraged to claim back my bank charges, I contacted Halifax and asked for my past 6 years statements to calculate all charges made to my account, I was informed that there would be a charge of £10 for each and every bank statement !!! Surely this can't be right ? I can't afford to pay that. Are they trying to put me off making a claim against them ? or can they actually apply these charges ?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice or info :)

Hi and welcome,

Yes, it has been asked before, and the fact that £10 was mentioned indicates that between you and the bank you have probably got your lines crossed.

£10 is the maximum statutory fee for your REQUEST - the request is ALL your transaction history (although statements can be substituted if the bank wishes)

Good luck.

Thank you both for you replies :)

I have found in FAQ that I need to request that Halifax supply these under the DPA. I should have read the thread more thoroughly before asking, *embarrassed smiley*

Many thanks for reading and taking the time to reply :)
