Hello,

My story will read as all too familiar to this forum.

I've made a mistake and cancelled my direct debit for my Marriott membership without providing 30 days notice.

Harlands are now saying the usual I owe them one month's fee as well as a missed direct debit fee.

I've seen generally the advice is to offer 1 month's payment fee and provide notice at the same time?

My membership is about £100 and so I'd rather not pay that months fee as I won't use it.

Technically I've broken the T&Cs,

is it best I offer to pay the one months fee,

or can I get away with ignoring them completely and paying nothing

- am I vulnerable to anything if I do this?

for the 1st time in over 10yrs David Lloyd and a known ' maverick' solicitor are (going by 2 threads here) taking 2 here to court (how many more we dont know) BUT BUT BUT this is for almost £1000ish each of trumped up joint membership fees .

you are quite safe just to ignore everything

you've realised your mistake.

there is nothing to say you cannot write to the GYM offering the 1mts back membership  (and ONLY that), giving 14 days to accept.

they wont i bet ...so .....

please don't hit Quote...just type we know what we said earlier..

DCA's view debtors as suckers, marks and mugs

NO DCA has ANY legal powers whatsoever on ANY debt no matter what it's Type

and they

are NOT and can NEVER  be BAILIFFS. even if a debt has been to court..

If everyone stopped blindly paying DCA's Tomorrow, their industry would collapse overnight...

As per advice given here over the last decade or so, write offering 1 last month's fee for the notice period you should have given but you will NOT pay any penalty or late fee - offer valid for 14 days only and withdrawn after that.

See how Harland reply, if at all, and let us know.

We could do with some help from you
