DPA letter sent today!

I'm also claiming against Natwest. There's always my Smile account to fall back on if they both close my account.

I was suprised how the charges add up; just looking at the statements available online they add up to £630 in the last year!

Just wondering, if the Halifax do close my account because of this, what happens to all the direct debits etc? Would I have to set them all up again manually for my parachute account?

Most banks offer a service that swaps over DDs and SOs etc free of charge.

If you're worried about missing the odd DD payment then it might be best to inform the company requesting each DD.

they should move it all over for you, check your y&c's for halifax, some give 28 days notice of shutting an account, some different periods, so you should have plenty of notice should this happen, however in my case i simply got a letter offering full settlement and a sidenote to say i had in the past been a naughty girl and if i was again they may look more closely at my account. they are not known for closing accounts to be honest, as long as you can keep your nose relativley clean from here on in! :)

Hooray, finally had my statements through from the Halifax! Don't know how they could be so slow; my Natwest ones arrived a month ago.

Time to get working on that spreadsheet :)

Well, I sent off the LBA last week and was very surprised to receive a letter today offering a goodwill payment equal to my entire claim!

The only thing I could gain by taking it to court would be about £100 in interest so I think I'll accept the offer. Or should I write back and say I want interest as well?

The 8% interest should only be added at court stage, so with a 100% offer now, would say you'd be pushing your luck if you turned it down.

Enjoy the payout now - you don't have the hassle of a court claim.

Congratulations AJ:D
