Im just about to start action against the halifax bank to reclaim my charges. I hold Three accounts with them -a student, a loan and a credit card. Im worried about starting action because i am no longer a student and i owe £1250 on my overdraft. My girlfriend recently went ballistic in the headquarters in glasgow due to the bank not repaying a mistake they made, after alot of shouting she got the money back but - they found out she was not eligible to have the account she had and was forced to pay back her overdraft immidiatly. Thus im worried if i start action they will do the same to me.

This would not be so bad if the asked for the overdraft back at the end of the procedings when i win - cos i could simply pay off my overdraft with my charges, but if they ask for it before - im stuck.

Anyone with the knowlege to help me???

Ps, three cheers for the consumer action group!!!

dont know if this helps but what we have done is opened a new bank account before any action transfer the main supply of our income, our overdraft is not as much as yours but if they do close or suspend your account your income should not be affected and if you do have to pay your overdraft back sooner and what you think you are covered, but dont close your account if they decide to compensate your charges they are most likely to credit your account hope this helps
