I am about to start my claim against the Halifax as I have estimated i have paid about £298 per month for the past year in bank charges. I am just not sure if I have fully understood the process. The first letter I send is the access request letter along with a £10 fee, can someone confirm this is correct??

Read, read and read. Keep reading till your eyes bleed.

Well maybe not quit that long.

All of your answers are in the FAQ

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/faq.php

Or in the template section

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/

If you get really stuck then ask a question (there are no stupid questions left so it doesn't matter what you ask).

You are right about the letter.

It's a Subject Access Request which is made under the Data Protection Act. You can find a template here

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bank-templates-library/516-1-data-protection-act.html

But just to reiterate, please read everything as it helps to avoid the possibilty of a mistake taking place.

Hope this helps.
