Swedish student loan

My husband has received a letter from CCI legal regarding a student debt that is approx 12 years old.

 

With the debt being from Sweden would this still be statute barred? And can CCI legally enforce it here?

 

We want to buy a house soon and this would wipe out our deposit money saved so far, and we are also worried about the effect it may have on his credit rating here.

As it is a government debt, then I doubt that this would be subject to statute barred rules in Sweeden.

 

Think your husband will need to get advice from a relevant body in Sweeden. There appear to be a Swedish forum ( The Local) where this question has been asked before. Perhaps post to that forum to see if anyone knows the answers you seek.

You need to get professional guidance on the rules covering this debt in Sweden.

If your husband's debt is 12 yrs old it would seem to be Statute Barred.

So how is it going? I have just received a similar letter and have been trying to find out if they have any legal grounds. From what I have read CCI legal cannot take one to court. Can Sweden sell on their student loans- I did not think so. I am still waiting to hear back as I have enquirer full details of the loan from CCI legal.
