When is the CCJ dated? In whose name? May be worth looking at Registry Trust to see what happened when. Sounds like they just went for a default judgment as you didn’t defend, but let’s find out the facts.

These details change everything, if the CCJ is in relation to the Egg account, because Marlin will almost certainly NOT have substituted themselves as claimant, neither will Barclays. In fact, they probably don’t even know there might be a judgment in place.

As I said – the detail and full history is critical!

GE Finance is most likely a storecard. Ring any bells? GE sold their storecard business to Santander, I believe.

So we can assume the old Egg account is not the subject of a CCJ, then. Get those calls done!

In which case a CCA request will reveal two things:

1/ Marlin won’t be able to find one, and Egg aren’t around to reconstruct it – Marlin aren’t allowed to.

2/ Barclaycard are fibbing and have the details, in which case you have been misled.

Get the ‘Prove it’ letter reminder off to the solicitor, and meanwhile send the CCA request direct to Marlin.
